If you are on repeat medications, these will be reviewed every year.

You may be offered a health check including blood tests, a specialist nurse review of your long-term conditions, a medication review by a pharmacist or doctor, and a complex care review if you have specific needs. 

During this period of review, you may have delays in accessing your medication, until it has been reviewed and re-authorised for another year. Attending your appointments when requested will speed up this process and avoid any delays. 

You are housebound if you are unable to leave your home. This means that your annual review tests will take place at home, usually by the community nursing team.

The doctors can carry out home visits for patients who are housebound and who are more vulnerable.

We ask you to call before 11.30 am to arrange this so that we can assess the need for a visit the same day. However, this is at the doctor’s discretion and they will assess your situation over the telephone and advise you appropriately.

Influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, for residents of nursing and rest homes and everyone over the age of 65. Notices will be displayed in the waiting area from the end of September. Please call the surgery to book into one of our clinics.

Home visits can be arranged for housebound patients.

Please make an appointment with a practice nurse at least 6 weeks in advance of your holiday, to make sure that you are well protected. If you leave insufficient time we cannot guarantee that the vaccinations will be effective, or that we will be able to fit you in.

Most vaccines are available on the NHS, but for those that are not, we advise you to attend a pharmacy that offers travel vaccinations.

We follow the national childhood vaccination programme, which starts at 8 weeks of age, in order to protect your child from serious childhood illnesses.

After birth, your baby has a physical health check by your midwife.

We repeat this check at 8 weeks of age, to check for any health problems, and usually perform the first set of vaccinations at the same appointment.

We like to review the mother's health at around the same time as the baby check.

This appointment is to review your physical and emotional recovery after birth and to address any contraceptive needs.

Most of our clinicians can discuss contraception with you. There are several options available, and we aim to find the safest and most effective type for you.

We can prescribe pills and can arrange appointments for contraceptive injections, implants and coils.

We have a few blood test appointments available every week, as well as more in-depth annual review health checks which also involved blood pressure, weight, urine and foot checks, as required.

You can also have your blood test at the hospital or at the drive-through centre on City Parkway. For this option, we need to request your tests in your medical records first, and you will need your NHS number with you.

The Practice offers emergency contraception, which can be taken up to 72 hours after having unprotected sexual intercourse.

If there are no routine appointments, please ensure Reception staff know that you require this service and they will arrange for you to be called promptly.

If you care for a family member or friend with a disability, illness or frailty, or a child with special needs please inform the doctor or nurse when you see them. We like to highlight this in your notes so we can offer you support and flexibility when you are accessing our services. We also suggest you register with the Sheffield Carers’ Centre 

The NHS provides Cancer Screening services to pick up cancer early to give you the best possible outcome.  

•  Cervical Screening (Smear test)

We perform smear tests at the medical centre, and take great care to make these as comfortable and acceptable as possible for you.

•  Breast Screening  ( Mammogram)

 You will receive an invitation through the NHS screening programme to attend the Royal Hallamshire Hospital for your mammogram, usually every 3 years from the age of 50.

•  Bowel Screening                       

 You will receive a bowel cancer screening kit through the post every 2 years from the age of 60. If this is not returned, we will be notified, and we will attempt to contact you to encourage you to do the test.

We offer mental health assessment, therapy and support through the IAPT service, for first line options. 

We are delighted to be able to now offer a variety of additional mental health services through our Emotional Wellbeing team and our Primary Care Mental Health team.

Link workers give people time, focusing on ‘what matters to me’ and taking a holistic approach to people’s health and wellbeing. They connect people to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support.

Link workers also support existing community groups to be accessible and sustainable and help people to start new groups, working collaboratively with all local partners.

You can be referred to our network link workers, Bluebell Evans (for anyone over the age of 18) & Matt Astbury (for any young person over 13) by any member of our team.
